Cheap Restaurant in Dumaguete City – Jo’s Chicken Inato

If you are looking for a cheap and probably the best restaurant in Dumaguete City, Jo’s Chicken Inato is the place to be. Popular among locals and tourists, this restaurant started serving their famous native chicken inato in early 80’s. Inato means “aton aton lang” or “exclusive for us”.

Located along Hibbard Avenue corner Siliman Avenue, Jo’s Chicken Inato can easily be reached via tricycle at any point within Dumaguete city.

Jo’s Chicken Inato’s Filipiniana facade sets this restaurant apart from any other restaurants in Dumaguete City. It has this high-end ambiance especially during the evening. Lights complement to the varnished wooden chairs and tables. Being an open air restaurant, guests get to enjoy the unpolluted air of Dumaguete city.

I did not hesitate to try their signature dish – Inato Petso (99 Php). This meal consists of chicken breast, rice and atsara. I must say that the chicken inato is something that resembles Bacold’s chicken inasal. Both dishes are tasty and delicious! (related: Where to eat chicken inasal in Bacolod City)

Apart from the delicious chicken inato, we ordered 2 piece of pork barbeque (40 Php), Camaron rebosado (120 Php), buttered shrimps (150 Php). We paid less than 500 Php in total for a festive meal consisting seafoods, pork and chicken!

Being cheaply priced, I did not really expect something special on their menu. Surprisingly, their food exceeded my expectations! I have nothing negative to say about this restaurant. The location, ambiance and service are good. Food on their menu are delicious and affordable. Well, that explains why Jo’s Chicken Inato is a very popular food destination in Dumaguete City!

Golden Crown Restaurant at BBB Valenzuela City

Located along McArthur highway in BBB, Marulas, Golden Crown Food Center is becoming a popular food destination in Valenzuela City.

I remember that a friend from QC once asked me about this Chinese restaurant, I wasn’t sure as I’ve never heard and was clueless of it. Masarap daw food dun at mura pa. Dinatayo yung Golden Crown! He said. It intrigued me but I still wasn’t able to visit the restaurant to try their food.. until one day my mom brought home Pancit Canton and Calamares from Golden Crown Food Center.

It was a Sunday when I told my mom that we’ll just buy lunch at Golden Crown. She asked me to call the restaurant to place my order as it tends to be fully occupied during weekends. I called the restaurant, placed my order and was told that the food will be ready for pick-up in 30 minutes.

Unlike some restaurants in Valenzuela, the small facade of Golden Crown is no eye-catching. Being a Valenzuelano, I did not realize that there is such a restaurant in Marulas.

If you are into high-end restaurants, Golden Crown will disappoint you. The facade and the interior is no fancy. Chairs are mono blocks and tables are nothing special. Nonetheless, the restaurant is air-conditioned. It reminds me of typical Binondo Chinese restaurants where the dining areas and the overall look and ambiance of the restaurant is plain and simple. If you want a bit high-end dining experience in Valenzuela, try Little Beijing Restaurant.

We arrived at BBB, Marulas at 2:00 PM and it was surprising that there were still a number of people dining and all the staff of the restaurant were very busy. True enough, this restaurant is frequently visited by its patrons!

I went straight to the take out area to claim my order. I was greeting by a very welcoming and kind staff of the restaurant. Since our food is for pick-up, we did not stay long and left immediately.

Unfortunately, they do not offer food delivery. Alternatively, you can call the restaurant to order and they will immediately prepare the foods for pick-up. I learned from the staff that they also cater receptions for events such as weddings, baptismal sand birthday parties.

Fiesta Market is the newest food hub in Solenad 3, Nuvali. It offers a wide array of Filipino and Asian food at very affordable prices. The place is a high-end food court type like that of BGC’s Market Market. The area is very clean and well-maintained.

If you are visiting Nuvali and looking for the best place to eat healthy yet affordable Filipino food, Pixie’s Sinugba in Fiesta market is a must visit place!

Pixies Sinugba’s specialty is the inihaw na bangus or grilled milkfish. Sinugba means “Grilled” in Bisaya so expect something very special and very Pinoy on their version of the inihaw na Bangus.

Pixie’s Inihaw na boneless Bangus (Sinugbang Bangus)

They serve this freshly grilled boneless bangus in a long box with foil. I should say that this is the best inihaw na bangus I’ve ever tasted. The Bangus is stuffed with onions, garlic, tomatoes and other spices make this even more delicious. And not to mention that Pixie’s Sinugba foods are also MSG free. Truly a healthy food choice!

Apart from mouthwatering and healthy inihaw na Bangus, they also have a number of healthy viands on their menu. I could not recommend any specific food on their list as everything is really healthy and delicious!
