Raymen Beach Resort Guimaras – Blog Review + Room Rates

Me enjoying the fine white sands

Apart from sweet mangos, Guimaras island has pristine white sand beaches. Locals say that the most beautiful beach in the island is Alubihod located in Nueva Valencia. Alibuhod beach has three resorts namely Raymen Beach Resort, California Coral Beach Resort and Alobihod Cove.

Raymen Beach Resort – Most Popular Guimaras Beach Resort

During our 3 days and 2 nights trip in Guimaras Island, we spent our first night in Raymen Beach Resort. According to our tour guide, Raymen beach resort is the most frequented beach resort by locals and tourists from the nearby Iloilo province.

I initially felt worried as I’m not a fan of crowded beach resorts. We were lucky that we visited Guimaras on November and it was an off-peak season. According to our tour guide, Alibuhod beach becomes crowed during summer season and holy week.

Tip: If you want to fully enjoy the beauty of Alibuhod beach, visit Guimaras during off-peak season.

Budget Resort in Guimaras

There are many beach resorts in Guimaras but only few offer direct access to beachfront. Raymen Beach Resort Guimaras is one of these resorts. You get to enjoy the fine white sands and crystal clear waters of Alibuhod beach if you’re staying in Raymen.  The resort has beachfront rooms and huts for day tour guests which are literally few steps away from the shore.

Me enjoying the fine white sands Me enjoying Raymen’s beachfront

Just like any other white beaches in the Philippines, Raymen Beach Resort’s Alibuhod beach in Guimaras offers calming view of the sea. The white sands may not be fine as Boracay’s but is comparable to the fine white sands of Bantayan Island in Cebu and Cagbalete Islands in Quezon. The beach is not rocky so you need not to worry if you forgot your aqua shoes. If you love sun basking, there are no beach beds in the resort. I would highly recommend you bring sarong instead.

There are also buoys in the beach for safety purposes.

Budget Beach Resort

If you are on a budget and is looking for a cheap resort in Guimaras, you should consider Raymen Beach Resort. An overnight stay for 2 in a beachfront room is only 1,650 Php. They also have huts for rent for as low as 600 Php. Truly a budget-friendly beach resort in Guimaras!

If you do not have plans to stay overnight, Raymen Beach Resort has picnic huts ranging from 400 Php to 750 Php a day.

Family Room

Our room was a family room facing the beach. We booked a bit late prior to our trip and the family room is the only remaining room in Agoda. Too bad, we were clueless that Raymen Beach Resort has cheaper rooms.

Tip: Family room facing the beach is 4,500 Php and we booked it at only 3,373 Php. You too can enjoy huge discount if you book your Raymen Beach Resort room HERE.

Family room Family room

Our room is very spacious. It has one double bed and one queen bed. The room is air-conditioned and also comes with a cable TV, dresser and a dining set. It is also one among the few rooms in Raymen Beach Resort having intercom. Meaning, you can call the resort’s restaurant to order food and it will be delivered in your room!

The toilet & bath is spacious too. Basic toiletries such as soap, toilet paper and towels are provided. Toilet could have been better if it includes bidet. Nonetheless, there is a hot & cold shower.

Overall, the room is generally clean. Not the type you get to experience in high-end resorts but is truly value for your money!

Best Restaurant in Guimaras

There are various restaurants in Guimaras but Raymen Beach Resort’s is a must visit when you are going to the island. They offer a wide array of food choices on their menu at an affordable price!

I didn’t really expect that their restaurant serves delicious food as they are cheaply priced. We have tried dining at the expensive Danilo’s restaurant in Andana Resort Guimaras. I should say that Raymen Beach Resort’s restaurant definitely serves better tasting food.

Upon checking-in, we immediately ordered lunch. Instead of eating in the restaurant, we requested our food to be delivered on our room. We enjoyed the crabs and pancit canton!

crab Yummy buttered garlic crab (220 Php only!)

For our breakfast, we ordered tapa and chorizo meals for only 95 Php each! Since we loved Raymen Beach Resort’s restaurant, we even decided to have our lunch there after checking-out.

5 Reasons to Choose BISUMI Tour & Services for Your Batanes Trip + Blog Review 2018

Sabtang Island, Batanes

You are probably reading this blog post as you are looking for the best and cheapest Batanes tour. I just want to clear that this is not a paid blog post by BISUMI Tour & Services.  I’m writing this post because we enjoyed our Batanes trip and that was made possible by the tour we picked from BISUMI Tour & Services.

Here are my 5 reasons why you should choose this travel agency for your Batanes adventure:

1. Cheaper Batanes Tour Rates

Among various reliable travel agencies we have checked, BISUMI Tour & Services offer the cheapest rates.

Sabtang Island, Batanes

2. Wide Array of Batanes Tour Packages to Choose From

If you are a solo traveller, with your special someone or with a group, you need not worry as BISIMU Tours has various Batanes tour options depending on PAX, choice of transportation, number of days and even choice of Batanes tourist destinations.

Since we were on a budget, we chose the cheapest Batanes exclusive tour rate – Tricycle tour for 5,000 Php per person.

Joining a group tour would be fun but I didn’t want the restrictions and time pressure touring Batanes with a group in a van. In most of my travels, I prefer tricycle tours as I get to experience fresh air and see breathtaking views. So, I was excited that we get to tour Batanes on a tricycle!

3. Friendly, Knowledgeable and Professional Local Tour Guides

Edwin was our tricycle driver for our North & South Batan tour. He was also our tour guide and photographer at the same time. Jen and I easily felt comfortable with Edwin as he was very friendly, polite and cheerful. We had fun touring and learning about different Batanes tourist spots as he is very knowledgeable. During our second day in Batanes, our Sabtang Island tour was cancelled due to bad weather.  Edwin took the effort of personally informing us in our hotel ahead of time.

Edwin also helped us searching for a restaurant with stock of lobsters. Sadly, lobsters were scarce as it was raining days before we arrived in Batanes.

Like Edwin, our Sabtang island tour guide/tricycle driver/photographer was very polite and professional. Jimmy even helped us carry a heavy backpack in Sabtang Island full of toys for my Travel with a Purpose Project.

4. Safe & Hassle-Free Tour

With Bisumi Travel & Tour Services, you don’t need to worry about anything. All the planning and ticketing will be taken cared of. When we availed for the 3-day Tricycle tour, we directly paid the ecotourism fee at their office instead of going to Batanes municipal hall. That saved us time and effort. Upon arrival in each and every tourist destination, we need not to worry about having our ecotourism booklet stamped. Our guide guide took in charge of it.

Since we visited Batanes on a rainy season, our tour guide prepared raincoats and umbrellas. It rained several times during our tour but the rain did not stop us with our itinerary. We felt grateful for choosing Bisumi when we encountered several tourists in a non-Bisumi tricycle tour not having raincoats.

Before embarking the boat to Sabtang Island, we were surprised that our guide was handing us high-quality life vests with BISUMI prints on it. Other non-Bisumi tourists got the usual cheap life vests.

5. Lunch and Freebies!

The tricycle tour we availed from BISUMI Tour & Services included lunch during our 3 days tour. We super enjoyed the food and the places our tour guides brought us for the free lunch.

Day 1: Lunch at Vonong
Lunch at Vonong

Okay, the exciting part was when the receptionist at BISUMI office informed us that there are freebies. We got postcards and bags in their office. Our guide brought us to BISUMI souvenir shop and we were given keychains, coin purse and bag tags as souvenirs!

How to get to Camiguin from Manila, Butuan, Cebu, CDO, Bohol + Itinerary and Budget

White Island sand bar Camiguin

Camiguin Island is located in Bohol Sea and is 10 kilometers off the northern Mindanao coast. In terms of population and land area, Camiguin Island is the second smallest island in the Philippines. Also known as the “Island Born of Fire”, this province is truly a promising tourist destination not only in Mindanao but in the entire Philippines.

How to get to Camiguin from Manila, CDO, Cebu, Bohol or Butuan

Manila -> Cebu -> Camiguin

Unfortunately, there is no direct flight from Manila to Camiguin Island. The only airline catering direct flights to the Island is Cebu Pacific Air which only flies from Cebu province. With this, you may fly from Manila to Cebu and Cebu to Camiguin Island.

Manila -> Cagayan de Oro City -> Camiguin

Geographically, Cagayan de Oro City’s Laguindingan airport is the nearest airport to the island if you are not flying from Cebu. Fly from Manila to Cagayan de Oro City.

From Laguindingan airport, hail a taxi going to Agora bus terminal. Travel time is approximately 30 minutes. In Agora bus terminal, ride a van or bus going to Balingoan Port. Travel time is approximately 2 hours. In Balingoan Port, ride a ferry bound to Benoni Port.

Note that most of the resorts are quite far from Benoni port. The transfer rate from the port to your resort depends on the vehicle and proximity of the resort. Van transfers range from 500 Php to 700 Php. For multicab, transfers cost 350 Php to 550 Php and 500 Php to 700 Php for Jeepneys. Since I was alone, I arranged a transfer to the resort with a habal-habal driver for 500 Php.

Cheap Camiguin Tour Rates

If you are visiting Camiguin, forget the expensive tour packages being offered by various tour agencies. It is way cheaper to directly go to Benoni Port and arrange your island tour with the locals.

Below are the Camiguin tourism office accredited tour rates:

[table id=4 /]

The above rates cover 8 hour island tour and are exclusive of entrance fees. A rate of 150 Php applies for every hour in excess.

*Since I was traveling solo, I opted for a cheaper alternative. I arranged a motorbike (habal-habal) tour for only 700 Php. Same as with the tourism accredited rates, the tour covers 8 hour island tour.

One Day Island Tour Itinerary

If you are pressed of time, the island can be toured in one day. Note that the entrance fees in the itinerary and pump boat fees in White Island and Mantigue Island are exclusive of the tour rates indicated in the Cheap Camiguin Tour Rates section of this blog post.

Since I arrived in the island at 5:00 PM, I just checked-in at Marianita’s Cottages and had dinner at a nearby restaurant.  I decided to have my island tour the next day. Below is my itinerary during my next day in Camiguin:

[table id=6 /]

Fortunately, there are cheaper ways to enjoy the breathtaking Siquijor. Instead of availing expensive tour packages, go directly to the island and arrange a tour package to the Siquijor tourism accredited tour guides/tricycle drivers.

In Siquijor port, there is a provincial tourism office reception area. Just ask the tourism officer for a copy of Siquijor map, list of accommodations and list of standard transportation tariff rates and tours. They provide these handouts for free. These will be helpful during your stay in Siquijor most especially if you decide to DIY tour the island.

There are tourism office accredited tricycle and van drivers waiting in the port. They usually approach visitors and offer the tour. Just make sure that you are dealing with the tourism accredited drivers. These guys are in Siquijor tourism uniform. If you are a solo traveler or a couple, a tricycle tour will do. For larger groups, touring Siquijor on a van is recommended.

Cheapest Islas de Gigantes Tour Package

Cabugao gamay

If you are planning to visit the beautiful Gigantes islands in Iloilo, finding a cheap yet complete Islas de Gigantes tour package is quite hard. There are a number of tour agencies offering Islas de Gigantes tour packages. Sadly, these tours can be as expensive as 7,000 per person.

Gigantes Hideaway Tourist Inn Resort’s Tour Package

Being budget travelers, Jen and I were determined to find the cheapest Islas de Gigantes tour package, luckily, we have found Islandgirltraveler’s blog featuring Gigantes Hideaway Tourist Inn Resort, a cheap accommodation in Islas de Gigantes. A commenter mentioned that he booked for a solo traveller tour package at an affordable price.  We immediately contacted Sir Joel Decano, Gigantes Hideaway Tourist Inn owner. We asked for a quote for two persons and were surprised by the 3 days and 2 nights Islas de Gigantes tour package price.

3 Reasons why choose Gigantes Hideaway’s Islas de Gigantes tour package

Cheapest Islas de Gigantes tour package – This Islas de Gigantes tour package is by far the cheapest we have seen online. There are numerous travel agencies offering tour packages, however we find them too expensive. Gigantes Hideaway’s tour package may not include airport transfers from Iloilo City or Roxas City to Estancia or Carles port. Nonetheless, it is definitely cheaper and more fun if you commute from the airport to the ports of Estancia or Carles. See my post on How to Get to Islas de Gigantes From ManilaAdditionally, the tour package is inclusive of sumptuous and generous servings of scallops and other seafood! Rice and coffee are unlimited too!

Personal guides – Unlike other tours, Gigantes Hideaway’s tour package includes personal guides. The moment you reach the Estancia port or Carles port, someone from the resort will meet and guide you the passenger boat. Once you arrive in Islas de Gigantes, your local and personal tour guide is waiting for you and will serve as your guide throughout your stay in Islas de Gigantes.

Private tour – Whether you travel solo, with a special someone or with your friends, you need not to worry about your privacy. You will not be forced to join a group of strangers while touring the islands. You will get to have your private bout during island hopping. A private cave guide. A private habal-habal service throughout your stay in the Islas de Gigantes. What more can you ask for?
